Operation School Bell
Established 1994

Volunteers worked with local
school districts to provide 4,400 uniforms to disadvantaged children at
21 local schools. This program increases self-esteem and fosters regular
school attendance.
The Kids
on the Block
Established 1991

The educational
puppet show focuses on bullying prevention for third graders. This international
award winning program is offered free of charge to local schools.
Project S.E.E. (Screening Eyes Early)
Established 2003

Volunteers conducted vision screening of 1,000 pre-schoolers to detect
amblyopia (lazy eye). If not caught at an early age, it could lead to
blindness. Our members are trained by Prevent Blindness of Northern California.
Senior Pals
Established 1983

Assistance League members provide craft activities, bingo prizes, holiday
foods and musical entertainment to residents at Winchester and Oak Meadow
Convalescent Homes.
Hug-A-Bear
Established 1983

Our chapter donated hundreds of bears for distribution to abused or neglected
children at the Children's Center, Rape-Crisis Center and the Children's
Shelter.
Readers are Leaders
Established 2007
The purpose of Readers are Leaders is to instill the love of reading for students in area schools by using volunteers who visit classrooms on a regular basis. They come prepared to entertain, enlighten, and encourage children by reading carefully selected books and donating books for the classroom.
